The Foundation for Appraisal Education is a not-for-profit organization formed to promote the advancement of education related to personal property appraising.
The ISA Education Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2002, as a separate corporate entity from its parent organization, The International Society of Appraisers (ISA). The sole purpose of this corporation was to raise funds for scholarships to aid those seeking to improve their knowledge in the field of personal property appraising. Gloria Moroni, Rick Cassagrande, Anne Blumer, CD Gallimore, and Nancy Bangiola were the first Board of Directors of the Corporation.
The ISA Education Foundation was established under Illinois law and granted non-profit status in 2003. In 2007, the Corporation’s headquarters was moved to Texas, where legal residence and recognition was established.
In the summer of 2008, the name was changed to the Foundation for Appraisal Education. The Foundation for Appraisal Education is not affiliated with the Appraisal Foundation, which is the Congressionally authorized non-profit organization dedicated to promoting professionalism in appraising through the establishment of appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications.
The Corporation began awarding scholarships in 2004 and currently presents scholarship awards of $1,000.00 each to one new and one experienced appraiser, and $1,000.00 to one selected candidate for the The Rago Auctions Scholarship in 20th C. Design. Grants for group educational opportunities, such as underwriting educational speakers for ISA's annual conference, are also awarded.
In addition, the Corporation publishes the Journal of Advanced Appraisal Studies. Launched in the spring of 2008 and written and edited annually specifically for personal property appraisers and those who use appraisal services, this Journal is a compilation of original research articles, integrative reviews and topical discussions of professional appraisal issues and concerns from a variety of perspectives, theories and approaches.
To fund all of these important programs, the Foundation for Appraisal Education accepts memorials and gifts from groups and individuals as well as corporate donations and sponsorships.
